  • Arvo Pärt - Lennart: in memoriam (British première)
    This work is dedicated to the memory of Lennart Meri, the Estonian president (1929 - 2006).
    Originally founded by the conductor and composer Jacques Cohen in 1993 as an orchestra for conservatoire graduates, the Isis Ensemble was launched as a fully professional orchestra, comprising the very cream of London musicians, in 2005. The group has collaborated with Diana Burrell, James Bowman and Simon Bainbridge amongst many others. In 2005 the Ensemble worked with the Master of the Queen's Music, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, in a residency to celebrate his 70th Birthday.

    Paavo Järvi became chief conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra at the start of the 2006/07 season. Over 75 years the orchestra has established an enviable international reputation through its concerts, broadcasts and recordings. This performance forms part of the 2007 season of BBC PROMS, and will be broadcast live.

  • Heinavanker at the Canterbury music festival-24th October, Canterbury Cathedral
    The Heinavanker (Haywain) ensemble, conductor Margo Kõlar, began making music together in 1988. The group's name is derived from the famous triptych altarpiece by Hieronymus Bosch, which depicts a praying angel and hidden demon vying for possession of the beautiful music atop a hay wagon headed for destruction.
    The ensemble's concert programmes are based on Gregorian chant, early polyphonic music, and religious folksongs from Estonia. The group has performed in Finland, France, Germany, Poland, Scandinavia, the United States and Switzerland, and has participated in festivals in Russia, Denmark and Sweden. This is their first performance in Britain.

  • Estonian jazz musicians Raivo Tafenau & Meelis Vind
    22nd May at 8.00pm, Holy Trinity Church, Lamorbey, Sidcup These two acclaimed Estonian jazz musicians have worked together so long that they have achieved almost total artistic symbiosis. As a result, it is impossible to distinguish between improvisation and composed music. The pair will be performing for the first time in Great Britain. "One of the most interesting duos in the current jazz scene" (Jaak Ojakäär, Eesti Päevaleht) "Can an instrumental duo be more interesting than a whole group?
