    9 July at 8.00 pm – music by Arvo Part at City of London Festival Arvo part If Bach had been a Bee Keeper conductor Nicolas Collon

    This exciting young chamber orchestra has in a few short seasons established itself as a force on the British music scene and this is its Festival debut. As part of the International Year of Biodiversity in 2010 bee related events will include newly commissioned poetry and music tastings seminars and a lecture by the Bishop of London.   • Estonian Poetess Doris Kareva at Concert in London
    7 July at 7.30 pm – A ship with unfurled sails Vigala Singers SaxEst and Doris Kareva at the concert at St Simon Zelotes Church 40 Milner Street London SW3 2QF

    Vigala Singers Royal College of Music Junior department alumni Chambern Choir conducted by Joy Hill together with the saxophone quartet SaxEst will celebrate Estonian and British cultural liaison featuring music by Holst Pearsall Vaughan Williams Gabriel Jackson Tonu Korvits and Hillar Kareva.

    In the programme two UK premieres: A Ship With Unfurled Sails by Gabriel Jackson associate composer BBC Singers text Doris Kareva and Hymns from The Western Coast by Tonu Korvits.

    Poetess Doris Kareva will read extracts from her poetry book A Shape of Time published by Arc Publications in 2010.

    In 2009 Asko Kunnap was invited to the Ledbury Poetry Festival 2010 festival welcomes two Estonian poets Kritiina Ehin and Doris Kareva. The opening night of the festival featuring Kritiina Ehin will mark also the poetry book by Kristiina published by Arc Publications.

  • Estonia at the London Festival of Architecture from 19 June 2010: ‘The River Bell’ by Vilen Künnapu
    The River Bell by Vilen Kunnapu the internationally acknowledged architect writer and visionary is an abstract form created for the Millennium Courtyard of Southwark Cathedral.

    The object is in conversation with The Queens Jubilee Walk by the River Thames with the Courtyard and especially with the architecture of the Cathedral. It is a six metres high instrument from painted steel fibreglass copper and aluminium that plays music of silence.

  • Dmitry Hvorostovsky and Estonian Ivari Ilja at the Wigmore Hall
    11 June at 7.30pm Dmitry Hvorostovsky and Ivari Ilja at the Wigmore Hall London
    Ivari Ilja (piano) collaboration with Dmitry Hvorostovsky (baritone) started several years ago.

    The programme at the Wigmore Hall includes music by Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky the two giants of Russian song composition.

    Ivari has won prices in several national and international competitions including the Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and the Vianna da Motta Piano Competition in Lisbon.

    Ivari has given recitals and performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Moscow Symphony Orchestra the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and the St.Petersburg Symphony Orchestra.

  • Estonian Kai Rüütel in Jette Parker Young Artists Programme Summer Performance
    Saturday 17 July 2010 1pm

    The performance will be directed by JPYAP stage director Jose Dario Innella lit by Donald Cox and accompanied by the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House conducted by Robin Stapleton who hands over the baton to JPYAP conductors Dominic Grier and Steven Moore for one item each.

    Tickets for the Young Artists annual summer showcase on the main stage of the Royal Opera House will go on sale on 6 April. Once again prices have been kept low to ensure everyone has a chance to attend ranging from 5 to 35 pounds so tickets are likely to sell out fast and early booking is strongly recommended.
